I am teaching 4 classes a day from periods 2 through 9, but since my 9th is a prep period, I could probably just leave after 8th period.
The good thing is that starting 2nd period means that I don't have to wake up at ungodly hours anymore. The downside is that I have to either carpool with a roommate or commute during rush hour... Which people know I HATE!
Anyway, I'm pretty pleased with the arrangements this semester, but I suppose I really won't know what I've gotten myself into until I get the roster with student names.
What's odd is that I'm on the 11th grade team instead of the 10th grade team which means I'm getting the same shit heads I had last year...
Anyway, off to a decent start this year, our school got smaller in terms of number of classrooms but I think we have the same number of students, which BLOWS...
I'm still sorting out what to do the first days of content. The first week is going to be totally different from last year. Oh man, what a train wreck. =)
Addendum:
Being that I only have one grad class this year and that I have more time before and after class, I am more inclined to stay for homework help after school or to co-teach with other teachers.
It's weird how your feelings change the second time around. There's less anxiety and there's more confidence entering the classroom. I know what I can't get myself into and I know what I will expect from my students.
The big emphasis now is getting the message across the first week what the goals of the classes are. The only real stress is in developing the physics to get students past the Regents Exam... But if all my effort is focused on that one effort, then I shouldn't have a problem... I hope...
