Teaching a bunch of ingrates...

Teaching a bunch of ingrates is aggravating. We had $800 in genetics books donated through DonorsChoose.org and the website policy is that classrooms that receive donated items write letters and send pictures to the donors of students using the materials.

I didn't think I'd have much of a problem but I've received quite a bit of resistance from students in terms of getting the permission slips to send letters and take pictures. In essence the overall student argument is that they either don't want their pictures taken, which is fine, or students feel that they shouldn't have to thank somebody they don't know.

I guess this is the first time I've ever truly witnessed how genuinely ungrateful this student population can be. They demonstrate little to no appreciation for the things that are in front of them. They take things for granted and have the audacity to make demands on what the school should have or should do.

This is really bothersome. I know that there are students who really push themselves and make the most of the resources that I spend my hard earned money and my spare time acquiring but to face a significant number of students who throw my contributions in the gutter is an insult. I can only imagine how much longer I can put up with this sort of ridiculous student attitude of entitlement.

As far as the ingrates are concerned, they're permanently on my shit-list.
