I've had some interesting run-in's with the vocabulary used in class the past couple of weeks. Here are the terms I threw in class at random:
Incendiary
Homo sapien
Drosophila melanogaster
Escherichia coli
Clostridium botulinum
Australopithecus africanus
Photosynthesis
Deoxyribonucleic acid
Chemiosmotic phosphorylation
Nomenclature
I have a class that's absolutely fascinated by the words used in class. Sometimes I throw in words just to throw them a word of the day or sorts and just to get them talking the talk. It's sort of amusing, especially with the kids that have lisps. I mean, imagine a kid with a lisp trying to articulate the word "photosynthesis." Pretty amusing.
