Quarter-Life Crisis

I spoke with another teaching fellow from the same cohort who moved back to their home state. They found a teaching job there. It's always interesting when you compare the pitfalls of teaching in NYC to teaching anywhere else. They recommended teaching outside NYC, no surprise there.

I'm convinced that programs like TFA and NYCTF take advantage of college graduates who (at the end of their 2-3 years in the program) inevitably hit their quarter life crisis and find other things to do with their lives. Not that it surprises me. It seems like the system here doesn't support a legacy of career educators but supports classroom mercenaries instead.

I have hit my quarter life crisis, but I'm no mercenary.
