What tree is it?

Spring has arrived and the plants have turned green or started to blossom. Beautiful.

One useful tool is to use sites like this that help you identify the kind of tree it is. The link was sent through the biology list serve, which occasionally has some interesting resources. There are other programs and sites that I've stumbled across but this one seems more interactive and can teach students how plants can be grouped or categorized based on physical features.

There was a program you could download to a PDA and you can identify plants in the field using the program but I haven't looked at it too closely (it's the Bronx, not the Adirondacks).

The site has been added to Biology as Flash - Tree Identifier.
