CNNMoney.com - Top 100 Best Jobs in America

I couldn't help but notice this list by CNNMoney.com and how all the jobs are either really technical in nature or require some form of post-high school education.

Not that it bothers me, but there's another trend to notice... Education and social work are nowhere to be found anywhere on the list.  Also, politicians, police, and firefighters are no where on there too.  I suppose there's no hope for growth or advancement in those fields, but I'm sure they're still gratifying for those who participate in those careers.

What scares me is that these may be the best careers for students to pursue, but not many of the students I teach now are capable or competent enough to pursue these fields.  As much as a student wants to be an architect or a medical doctor, it is extremely unlikely if you cannot score higher than the inflated 65 on any of your Regents exams.  Even if a student scored a 95 on all of their Regents exams, it doesn't mean they are capable of scoring high enough on the SAT or the MCAT or their medical boards to become a doctor...
