BBC: History of Prosthetics

The BBC has a series of photographs about the history of prosthetics.

What an amazing view of the earliest forms of prosthetics.  It always seems to amaze me how people can adapt and adjust after they have had a body part severed from their body.

Images such as these really magnify the importance of function and utility when it comes to evaluating the need for common body parts we often take for granted.

Not that I thank my leg or arms every morning for their diligent service, but it's just a thought.  I'm certainly grateful to be a whole person.

Enjoy!
