If I have another student ask me out to the prom I'm going to smack them in the back of the head. It's flattering but it's inappropriate, something these kids are experts at.
I've had awkward moments in class and out of class before but this is just getting out of hand. It doesn't make me angry, but saying no just doesn't compute to these kids. I suppose it's just the running joke to badger your teachers until they say yes. But I generally don't crack or give into their little mind games.
Prom should be interesting, or rather the aftermath should be interesting. Since it's on a Thursday evening, I'll bet none of the seniors will come to school that Friday...

Are they genuinely asking you to the prom or just being silly? If it's not the latter, they must lack some substantial grounding in reality.
Most times they are joking. But there are other times when you get that awkward feeling they are genuinely asking.
