America is not the only country in an educational crisis... So Fe was looking into teaching abroad for a year or indefinitely, which wouldn't be such a bad idea since I'm getting sick of America at this point.
What caught my interest is teaching in Australia. They apparently have a math and science teacher shortage like in the states, but I'd be more interested living in the outback than living here. They hire teachers from abroad and pay through short and long term contracts so it's pretty ideal for a temporary teaching stint or for something more long term...
I am totally willing to go to Australia to teach, I'm really considering it now that it's the last 2 semesters for grad school and my commitment to the fellows is coming to an end after this coming school year.
I'll bet though that the Aussies have their own set of social problems that is analogous to the problems we face in the states but hopefully it's less of a bureaucracy.
I don't know... I suppose it's wishful thinking to travel and work at the same time. Other locations of interest include Greece, New Zealand, Brazil, Chile, and Singapore.
Anybody want to tag along for a while?? :)

If you're interested, my FA taught two years abroad in South Africa. He had a lot of great things to say about it. I'm sure he'd have some insight and helpful resources he'd be willing to share. Let me know.
