Bronx Community Health Network, Inc.

There was a meeting with the Bronx Community Health Network which is basically a community activism group that promotes health practices and education. So me and another science teacher were asked to sit in and chat a bit about developing a curricula that promotes positive mental and physical health.

I could only make the tail end of the meeting but what they came up with was a 3 stage curricula that addresses all the needs within a certain criteria. I had a few choice things to say about what students think and believe in terms of misconceptions of health and science since you see a lot of crazy beliefs in your first couple of years. I also talked about some of the things that we are touching upon in my genetics class that could lead to future policy debates in the near future.

I didn't find what I said to be that impressive but now the representatives of this health network wants me to join their board of directors... What?!

Imagine me on the board of directors for a community health network... Geez, they must be pretty desperate. Apparently they're offering bigger bucks in terms of per session so it would be interesting to consider if I could make trips to Fordham convenient.

In other news, apparently there is going to have to be more Saturday labs... I don't particularly want to do these labs but the money is good and if it's only for a semester then it's not that big a deal. I can see now why they pay so well for per session, if it weren't that much, then nobody would do after-school extras in their free time...
