UFT: Presidential Election

THANK YOU!

Dear TEACHER,

As the reality of Barack Obama’s victory continues to sink in, I want to take this opportunity to thank the thousands of members who generously volunteered their time and energy for UFT-organized phone banks and battleground state bus trips.

The turnout at our various events was truly remarkable. Every call and every conversation made a difference, and we are grateful for the enthusiasm, dedication and commitment so many of you had for this history-making campaign.

I have been profoundly moved by our members’ hard work, and I am proud of how many of you came together for this important cause. It once again proves that when it comes to fighting for fairness and protecting the interests of working families, the UFT is a bona fide leader on the local and national stage.

Barack Obama and Joe Biden represent a new beginning for this country, and I wish them the best of luck in the years ahead.

Go here to read my statement to the press about their victory.

Yours sincerely,

Randi Weingarten
