Apparently rumor has it that we made some significant improvements on our school report card grade for the past year... Which means, we are eligible for the performance based incentive. Hopefully we've achieved 100% of our goals so that we each get our $3000. But I'll be happy getting $1500 too.
I still feel ambivalent about the performance based program since it still sends a mixed message of perform or perish. But then again, you learn after a while that the system is built to deceive the public into believing that the system of education is successful.
75% of schools in NYC received a grade of an A or a B. That's outrageous. But I suppose I'm glad that we made the cut, whatever that criteria is to get an A we'll work at... But we'll think twice about participating in that incentive program...
In other news, we have a new president! Thank goodness that Americans saw through the negativity of McCain's advertising and the futility of choosing an unknown governor who comes from the middle of no where.
Hopefully we shall see a domestic revolution. Focus on infrastructure, focus on research and development, focus on the issues that we've neglected for the past 8 years. Forget about foreign policy for a minute and realize that there's no point in military intervention overseas if we don't hold true to the needs of Americans within our own borders.
