Well I think this has something to do with drag and newtons 3rd law, every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Like the pitches in baseball and how they are able to throw balls that change direction in the last second as it goes over home plate. I think the type of kick and trajectory created a counter clockwise spin which causing the air to push back in the opposite direction pushing it to the left toward the goal. and hitting the post well that was just luck or really good positioning.
