Here's another website (greenomes.org) I stumbled upon about genetically modified foods and how transposable elements play a role in the development of traits in plants.
This would be a great opportunity to emphasize one of the key women in breaking scientific paradigms (Barbara McClintock - who won the Nobel prize for Physiology and Medicine for her work on genetic transposition in 1983).
The idea that genes can jump from place to place along the genome has still yet to be introduced to classrooms in high school. The site is similar to the silencing genomes website I stumbled upon in terms of design, layout, and organization.
All this from studying corn...
The link has been added to Biology as Flash - Greenomes!
Enjoy and good luck!
