Another link was located discussing the silencing of genomes. They use flash to illustrate slide shows of how genes are silenced in model organisms (particularly in C. elegans).
Granted they don't silence the entire genome in their research, I thought it was an interesting lesson to teach students about RNAi and the recent flood of research that has revolved around the ability to knock-out specific genes using double-stranded RNA in vivo rather than in vitro.
All this from studying petunias...
