PBS occasionally has lesson plans on recent events and this one seems pretty relevant for today since it pertains to the H1N1 pandemic.
What I usually dislike about online lesson plans from organizations like this is that they seem to flatter themselves by asking us to use their online or video materials in the lesson. But PBS seems to detach itself so that is a welcome sight. I don't rush at the opportunity to be a consumer before a teacher...
Anyway, make use of this opportunity. I still use the NCBI genomics information in my classes to compare the avian, human, and swine flu genomes. It's interesting when you show students the similarities and differences in their DNA sequences. The essentials for that lesson idea are here.
