The Effects of "Drama"

Student "drama" can take a serious toll on you after a while.

My fear is that it turns me into the kind of person who has been totally and completely desensitized to things that should draw more of an emotional response to. There are some things that always should shock me but I have unfortunately grown used to seeing.

I suppose there are positives to witnessing student "drama" on a regular basis. You are probably more likely to spot disingenuous behavior. I would guess that most teachers are probably pretty good as walking lie-detectors.

I have to admit that I've had my share of miscues in the classroom, but there have been fewer and fewer. It could just be my adjusted management or it could just be the different students I encounter each semester.

The links above are surveys through the BBC on spotting fake smiles and reading facial expressions. Check out how you respond to some of these. :)

I'm curious to know how many out of the twenty smiles you detected accurately... 13 of 20 here.
