Periodic Table Rap

Okay, here's my issue with rapping...

1. Finding a rap online (in text) doesn't mean it's easy to do (thank goodness for YouTube).
   
2. Writing your own if you've never written one is a pain in the ass (not to mention rehearsing it).
3. Recruiting students to write their own rap (or even learning an existing rap about science) for credit has never worked in my experience.
4. Communities that rely heavily on rap don't use rap to learn ANYTHING measurable or meaningful according to state standards, they use it to vent and attack each other. So to introduce science through rap to that community really just makes you look disingenuous.
5. I applaud any educator who can successfully implement a classroom rap, but it's just not something I could see myself doing (call me ole fashioned).
