Why NYC should close schools for tomorrow

  1. It's a public liability.
  2. Lots of students will end up cutting anyway.
  3. People's lives are at stake.
  4. If the clean-up of city streets have been mediocre, then what sort of clean-up do you expect of a school custodial staff?
  5. Other districts have already announced closures as a courtesy to parents.
  6. It doesn't undermine the city or municipal government in any way to preemptively announce closure.
  7. Waiting until 5:00 in the morning is really inconsiderate and it doesn't set the right tone for a new chancellor to wait till the last minute to make an executive decision about the well-being of the public.
  8. If you already declare a weather emergency how does it make sense to keep schools open?
  9. If the kids are at school, then who's going to shovel our sidewalk?
