UFT: Tell Albany: "Don't cut education - give a kid a chance"

Dear Colleague,

We are faced with staggering cuts to education coming from Albany totaling $1.4 billion to the state, more than $600 million to the city, and an average of more than $11,000 per classroom. These cuts will seriously harm children’s education and we cannot let that happen. It took decades for our schools to recover from draconian budget cuts in the 1970s, and we cannot make that mistake again.

Let the elected officials in Albany know that they must oppose school cuts. Protecting kids and their classrooms must be the priority.

To make sure that our representatives hear us loud and clear, please send them faxes and call their offices.

Call the State Assembly at 1-518-455-4100 and ask to speak to your local Assembly Member.

Don’t know who your Assembly Member is? Look it up here.

Call the State Senate at 1-518-455-2800 and ask to speak to your local Senator.

Don’t know who your state Senator is? Look it up here.

Tell them, “Don’t cut education — give a kid a chance!”

Sincerely,
Michael Mulgrew
