If you have time, you can show students this interesting flash animation on how their food is digested.
I'm big on grossing students out before big events like Thanksgiving. Get's them thinking about why they do the things they do and the re-evaluate their behavior in a critical way. Even if it is grossing them out, it's looking through another lens at the rituals of holidays.
